Mike Cline-Hughes
I am a professional artist specialising in portraiture of people and animals. My aim is to capture the essence of my subject so that it gives an emotional as well as a visual representation. The glance or tilt of the head, the curious stare or interesting pose combined with the natural energy that makes an image live on the canvas.
When not concentrating on commissions I like to paint interesting details of animals, recently seeming to have some sort of bestial foot-fetish with paws and hooves featuring strongly.
I enjoy putting the detail into a subject when the scale allows. Giving the impression of painting every hair or whisker as I think that’s what brings the image to life.
I am based in Cheshire and have a passion for horses and dogs.
